Problem
Social platforms widely used in India were built for global scale, not for local trust.
Content moderation was largely reactive. Harmful posts, misinformation, nudity, and spam often reached users before action was taken.
While these platforms were familiar, they weren’t structurally designed to prevent damage at the source. Despite the scale of adoption, there was no platform built exclusively around hyperlocal discovery or proactive moderation for Indian communities.
Platform Limitations
No state or area-level content discovery
Trust relied on reporting systems instead of prevention
Harmful content could trend before being reviewed

Reasearch &
Insights
Social platforms widely used in India were analyzed to understand how moderation and discovery systems operate at scale. Rather than reinventing familiar behaviors.
the goal was to benchmark existing interaction patterns and identify structural gaps that affected trust, safety, and local relevance.
Key Findings
• Preventive, pre-feed moderation is not a core system design principle in mainstream platforms.
• No native hyperlocal discovery model exists for state or area-level community feeds.
• User trust depends heavily on reporting systems rather than built-in prevention.

Process & Approach
Social platforms widely used in India were analyzed to understand how moderation and discovery systems operate at scale. Rather than reinventing familiar behaviors.
the goal was to benchmark existing interaction patterns and identify structural gaps that affected trust, safety, and local relevance.
Design System Foundation
Typography scale, color system, and spacing rules were defined from day one
Components and card structures were built alongside product growth
All UI elements were designed to be reusable across mobile, web, and dashboard
Consistency was maintained through shared components and structured layout rules

Solution & Final Design Showcase
The product was designed as a connected ecosystem across mobile, web, and moderation dashboard, all sharing the same design language and interaction patterns.
The goal was to balance content discovery, community interaction, and safety systems, ensuring the platform remained scalable while keeping the interface simple.
Key Findings
• AI Content Moderation — automated filtering to prevent harmful or misleading content from reaching the feed.
• Personalised Feed — users control what content they see through preference-based filtering.
• Hyperlocal Discovery — four main tabs: Explore, Following, State, and Local Area to surface relevant community content.

Impact
Taking a zero-to-one product live

The platform launched successfully and reached 500+ users, growing from an idea into a live product within four months.
During testing, the AI moderation system actively flagged and blocked harmful or fraudulent content before it reached the feed, keeping the experience safe while remaining invisible to users.
The product scaled to 3000–4000 designed screens, organized through a structured Figma workspace and reusable component system that enabled smooth developer handoff.
